Pahela Baishakh is celebrated Through Various Cultural Functions all over The Country. It is part and parcel of our culture. The day is a public holiday. Various Socio-cultural organizations both in villages and towns observe this day of Pahela Baishakh. The chhayanat Organizes the first programme of the day at Ramna Batamul in Dhaka. Baishakhi Mela is one of the attractive festivals for this day held everywhere especially in the villages.

Wearing Traditional dresses, a large number of people visit the Mela to buy and sell domestic goods. shopkeepers and businessmen are the most interesting people to celebrate the day as they open halkhata and offer sweets among the customers on this day. various electronic media broadcast special programmes and the national dailies publish special features on this day. Bangladesh television telecasts the programme live from 6 in the morning.

students and teachers of the institute fine arts of Dhaka University bring out a colorful procession carrying festoons, placards, posters, banners and wearing the mask to welcome the Bangla new year. Bangla Academy holds a cultural programme on its ground in the morning. Shilpakala Academy organizes a cultural function on the Academy ground. Jatiya press club, Bulbul Lalitakala Academy, national museum and liberation war museum organize cultural programmes. The observance of it is a part and parcel of Bengali culture And Identity.
