The Golden Fibre Of Bangladesh

Introduction: 
Jute is a kind of fibre. We get it from jute plants. Generally, jute plants grow eight to twelve feet high. Jute is golden in color. It brings us much foreign exchange. So it is called the golden fibre of Bangladesh.

Where grown: 

jute mainly grows in Bangladesh. It also grows in West Bengal and Assam in India, Thailand, China, and the Philippines. In Bangladesh, it grows well in Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Dinajpur, Bogra, and Comilla.

How Grown/ Method of cultivation: 

Firstly, The farmers plough the land well in March and April. Then they sow seeds. The young plants come out in a few days. Then the soil is made loose with 'Nirani' and weed out the grass. After three or four months the plants become matured.

How Fibre is taken/ Method of obtaining jute: 

The farmers cut down the matured jute plants, tied into bundles and keep underwater for about two weeks. When the barks are rotten, they are separated from the stalks. Then it is washed in water and dried in the sun. thus the fibre is obtained.

Usefulness: 

Jute is a very useful thing. ropes, bags, mats, paper, and clothes are made of jute. Painter's brush, false hair and other domestic articles are also, made of it.

Conclusion: 

Jute is the main cash crop of  Bangladesh and we earn a lot of foreign exchange by exporting it. But unfortunately, our farmers do not get a good price. our farmers should be financially helped by the Government.
